Drawings

Dreams, Analysis & Cappuccino

1985-2005

The idea for these drawings came from psychoanalysis in which some therapists use the mythical beings and their actions as the platform for decoding the dreams of their patients. I find this “reading of dreams” rather amusing. And, I explore this “technique” in my dream-like and surrealistic-looking gouaches with an anecdotal point of view. For example, I think of the famous Phoenix, after she resurrected from her own ashes, as of a woman who gets herself a pair of shoes as a reward for her ordeal. In my interpretation of this mythical story, Phoenix is not a male but a female, deeply influenced by the fire of an ongoing pop culture.
